Abstract

PURPOSE:To secure an enough installation space for an injector in a cylinder injection type internal combustion engine that injects fuel to a combustion chamber directly, and drive the engine stably even in lean combustion. CONSTITUTION:A cylinder injection type internal combustion engine is provided with a combustion chamber 7 formed between the upper face of a piston 2 and the lower face of a cylinder head 1, an intake opening end 4A opening toward the combustion chamber 7, an intake port. 4 extending upwardly from the intake opening end 4A, an exhaust port, 5, and an injector 18, which sets an injection port 8A to face the combustion chamber 7, in the side part, of the intake port 4 side of the combustion chamber 7. Intake flow forms a vertical swirl, which is provided with a streamline directed to the upper face of the piston 2 from the lower face of the cylinder head 1 on one side of a reference face 40 while provided with a streamline directed to the lower face of the cylinder head 1 from the upper face of the piston 2 on the other side of the reference face 40, and one half part, of the intake port 4 is widened more than the other half part so as to promote the formation of the vertical swirl, so that the center of the intake flow of the intake port is eccentric to one half part, in the axial direction.
(57)【要約】 【目的】 本発明は、燃料を直接燃焼室に噴射する筒内 噴射型内燃機関に関し、インジェクタ取り付けスペース を十分に確保するとともに、希薄燃焼でも安定して機関 を運転できるようにすることを目的とする。 【構成】 ピストン2の上面とシリンダヘッド1の下面 との間に形成された燃焼室7と燃焼室7に開口する吸気 開口端4Aと吸気開口端4Aから上方へ延びる吸気ポー ト4と排気ポート5と燃焼室7の吸気ポート4側の側部 に噴射口8Aを燃焼室7に臨ませるようなインジェクタ 18とをそなえ、吸気流が基準面40の一側でシリンダ ヘッド1の下面からピストン2の上面方向へ、基準面4 0の他側でピストン2の上面からシリンダヘッド1の下 面方向への流線を有する縦渦流を形成し、縦渦流の形成 を促進すべく、吸気ポート4の一側半部が他半部よりも 拡幅され吸気ポート4の吸気流心が軸線方向一側半部へ 偏心されるように構成する。
